Common rail diesel (CRD) engines are designed to operate in all conditions. This is where you need reliable performance tuning for your common rail diesel to get you out there and back again.
All newer diesel engine utilises the common rail technology. If you’re unfamiliar with what that is, it is the fuel injection system used on diesel engines. Common rail uses a high-pressure rail which delivers fuel to each injectors. This is instead of the older method of using a low-pressure pump in the traditional direct injectors diesels.
The main benefits for stock common rail diesel systems, is a cleaner burn producing less emissions than the direct fuel injection method and more importantly better performance with some studies showing the engines equipped with the common rail diesel engines will produce 25% more power.
Not only do common rail diesel injection system produce less emissions and have more power they have fewer moving parts and vibrations producing less noise when driving.

How Do You Tune a Common Rail Diesel (CRD) Engine?
At Just Autos we will do a full ECU remap with backed dyno testing and data assuring your tune will get you the performance and reliability you’re after.
Once strapped into our dyno we will plug in our computers where our master technicians will begin your tune, testing, measuring and adjusting your common rail diesel injection system monitoring the results along the way utilising our dynos. This process goes on until we have optimised your ECU and engine for your desired performance and reliability gains.
At the end of this process we will print off a dyno slip showing you the graph of what your performance was and where it is now.
How Do You Not Tune a Common Rail Diesel Engine?
The biggest error and engine killer for common rail diesel performance are cheap addon tune chips or slave tunes (ie. Not written for your car). This one size fits all solutions created of unknown components are not the way to have a reliable performance tune for your common rail diesel engine.
Car companies sink million of dollars into R&D of their ECU units, but often they detune them for the sake of global reliability as they service many regions. At Just Autos we will retune your ECU to the conditions you drive & performance desires with proven reliability.
What are the Benefits of Common Rail Diesel Dyno Tuning?
Besides the obvious reasons such as more power and torque from your diesel’s engine, there are many other benefits to getting a diesel dyno tune at Just Autos:
Better engine efficiency
Not only does this mean better fuel economy but your engine will also run more efficiently – not being starved of power in the gears and having it available when needed makes a big difference to your engine’s efficiency
Better safety
A dyno tune personalised to your needs is what is offered when getting a performance dyno tune from our master tuners at Just Autos. Also, the added power improves your driving experience, giving you that bit extra when you need it.

Common Rail Diesel Tuning Process
Each Vehicle is custom-tuned, at our workshop, to your specifications, but the process remains the same.
We connect your vehicle to our test equipment which reads:
Air fuel ratio
Boost pressure
Tacho speed & RPM
& Much more
Your vehicle is run on our dyno. This tool simulates various road conditions so our technicians can do a readout of your vehicle’s performance prior to tuning, allowing for a comparison of the before and after results.
Our technicians will adjust and change various components of your vehicle to allow for optimal performance.
Your vehicle is run on the dyno again giving us an after-tune readout to compare results to.
Common Rail Diesel Tune FAQ’s
How Long Does a Common Rail Diesel Tunes Take?
Our common rails tuning times differ between vehicles and current setups. Some may take a few hours; some may take days. A rule of thumb to work off of, when booking your vehicle in, is to leave it with us for the day- to ensure maximum service satisfaction.
Do I Get a Common Rail Diesel Tune Readout?
Common Rail Diesel Tuning FAQ’s
Every vehicle that goes onto the dyno will get a dyno sheet. However, some vehicles may not be able to be run up in standard form after some work is carried out. We will do everything we can to make sure before and after results are given. Unsure about what your readout numbers mean? Check out our video on Dyno numbers and what is real to find out more!
When Should I Do Get Common Rail Diesel tuning Done?
Diesel tuning can be carried out at any time in the life of the vehicle as long as it’s in reasonable condition. The ideal tuning time is anywhere between 0 -500,000km. If your vehicle has been taken care of correctly and maintained in a manner where it is still reliable, then there would be no hesitation in doing a Diesel tuning. You can even tune your vehicle straight off the showroom floor.
