Engine Efficiency?
Engine efficiency is key when tuning diesels for a touring aspect, it means finding where all components are well within their limits while still producing a reliable gain in torque and power. Efficiency will help produce torque in a manner which should not affect fuel economy.

Will tuning affect my fuel economy?
Fuel consumption is one of the first questions asked when going down the avenue of getting your vehicle tuned, with many factors that can effect fuel economy is never easy to promise a set figure but we can usually expect an improvement of around 1-2L better on average or sometimes achieving more power and using the same average as previously seen before tuning.
Usually when an adverse fuel consumption is seen after tuning it can be due to an underlying mechanical problem.
Just Autos customer
At Just autos we will usually go out of our way to have an in depth conversation with all of our customer to provide a package which best suits your needs, we will usually ask some of the following questions to help with delivery a package best suited for your needs and pointing you in the right direction.
- What do you want out of the car?
- What you’re currently doing with it?
- Is it a touring setup?
- Is it a daily vehicle used only for 4×4 use?
- End goal for your vehicle?
- Or all of the above
A big problem when starting to upgrade your vehicle is doing upgrades in a manner which requires components being changed later down the track which have already been changed. At Just Autos we will always try and setup your vehicle so that we only do it once and do it right the first time.
Can I make the same power as my mate?
Its more common than not that there will be a rivalry between mates and plain and simply you want to beat him. There are so many factors which come into play when tuning on a dyno which can involve different dynos, tyre size, awd and rwd, auto or manual, dyno corrections, temperatures and much more that will determine your end result on the dyno. A figure on the dyno at the end of the day will not always represent how the car is going to drive on the road.
What will my % gain in torque be?
When tuning your percentage gain could be anywhere from 20% – 100% depending on the vehicle being tuned and in some cases over 200% when carrying out of our performance packages.
Reliability?
When tuning reliability is a question that is asked time and time again, with any sort of tuning or pushing a vehicle outside the factory specifications there will always be a small risk involved. However, with years of experience tuning common rail diesel vehicle we have protections set in place to find a happy balance between making as much torque and power as we can possibly while still retaining a high degree of reliability. We have plenty of 300-400hp diesels being daily driven and towing daily.
Reliability is also going to come down to the person driving the vehicle, driver abuse can come into effect when tuning for high reliability, easiest way to put it is “its only going to be as reliable as you treat it”
Will tuning effect my Warranty?
Plain and simple, yes. Unfortunately, no manufacturer will cover any performance modification under the factory warranty program. We have spent countless hours upon trying to achieve high reliability from all our custom ECU remaps so that you don’t have to go back to the dealer for any warranty concerns that can be caused by aftermarket modifications.
When is the right time to tune my car?
From anywhere between 0 -500,000km, if the car is been taken care of correctly and maintained in a manner where the vehicle is still reliable then there would be no hesitation in tuning it and even with vehicle being tuned coming directly of the showroom floor. Tuning can be carried out at anytime in the life of the vehicle as long as its in reasonable condition.
